WORK to repair a damaged bridge structure and road surface on the A49 at Onibury starts on Friday.
The work, which will be carried out over the weekend, means the A49 will be closed at Onibury Bridge, just south of the Onibury level crossing, from 8pm on Friday January 30 until 6am on Monday February 2.
The work is required to repair the bridge deck and repairs to the damaged road surface on the section that carries the A49 over the River Onny.
During the work, traffic travelling from the north will be diverted at Craven Arms along the B4368 Clun Road and B4365 to Bromfield.
Traffic approaching from the south will be diverted along the B4365 and B4368 to Craven Arms.
Jess Kenny, Highways Agency project manager, said: “Repairing the bridge structure and road surface is essential maintenance work that requires a closure of the road to carry it out.
“The work will be carried out overnight to minimise disruption to road users but we advise people to allow extra time for their journeys.”
