POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in which a young woman died.

The two-vehicle collision happened at around 5.50pm on Thursday, February 1, on the B4362 near the village of Bircher.

It involved a silver Peugeot 106 heading towards Bircher and a silver Peugeot 307 heading towards Mortimers Cross.

The 19-year-old female driver of the Peugeot 106 suffered serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Hereford County Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The male driver of the second Peugeot sustained shock but was otherwise uninjured and did not require treatment.

All three emergency services attended and members of the public also provided first aid to the young woman prior to paramedics arriving.

As a result of the collision, the B4362 was closed for around six hours while collision investigators began an examination and the vehicles were removed.

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or either of the vehicles as they travelled along the B4362 beforehand.
