THE longest day of the year saw fire fighters tackling a bonfire at a south Shropshire beauty spot.
A call was made to deal with a bonfire at Cardingmill Valley, near Church Stretton, at just before 5pm on Saturday (June 21) which was not only the longest day of the year but also one of the hottest so far.
It was dealt with quickly by fire fighters from the town using a knapsack.
In the early hours of the same day they had a very different call to a property in Hazler Crescent in Church Stretton where there was a flood near an electrical supply. The fire fighters were able to isolate the electrical source.
