KAREN Bavastock was elected Mayor of Bishops Castle for a second term at the mayor making ceremony in Bishops Castle public hall May 6. Jane Carroll was elected as deputy mayor, with Mayor Bavastock choosing Rosemary Griffiths as her consort for the year. The mayor thanked people in Bishops Castle for achieving so much in the town by working as volunteers. She pointed out there were two vacant seats on the town council and said it was vital for everyone to help retain local businesses, shops and services. The mayor announced the civic parade will be on June 1, leaving the town hall at 10.40am with the civic service at 11am.
