SUMMER SHOW - The Church Stretton Gardening Club holds its summer show on Saturday at 2.30pm in the Silvester Horne Institute in association with Shropshire Beekeepers. Plants and produce stall, refreshments and a raffle are available. Completed entry forms should be handed in at Salts, ironmongers in High Street, by 4pm tomorrow (Friday). Admission is by donation.

CAR BOOT SALE - A charity car boot sale will be taking place at St Milburga’s car park on Saturday from 9am-1pm.

FOLK DANCING - Saturday night is the monthly folk dance evening at Ticklerton village hall open from 8pm.

All welcome, no experience is necessary as Ron and Dot Cox are there to show the way.

HORSE SHOW - This is the weekend of the Church Stretton Horse Show held at Green Farm, Longnor, by permission of Mr and Mrs J Thomas, on Sunday opening at 9am, and will also feature a dog show. Schedules have been available online.

KARUNA - A weekend course on forest gardening is offered at Karuna this weekend and next week there will be an Eco Therapy Course on August 24- 25, followed by earth-bag building on September 6-8. Pre-booking is essential so ring 01694751374 to find out more.

RHYMETIME - Rhymetime of fun, rhymes and songs for children under three years of age is available at the library on Tuesday from 10.30m-11am.

PRAYERS - The half-hour sessions of quiet reflection, prayer and some singing continue at the Methodist Church on Tuesday at 7pm. Each sessions differs from the last. These sessions continue throughout August and all are welcome.

PUBLIC MEETING - A public forum meeting on Wednesday at the Silvester Horne Institute starting at 7pm offers a chance for everyone to share their views on the Church Stretton and Social Care Partnership giving an opportunity to help shape local health services.

SCRAPPIES - The workshop on Thursday, August 22 at Scrappies Children’s Scrap Store will be on puppets. Sessions are from 10.30am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 3.30pm and cost £3.50. All sessions must be pre-booked.

YOGA - Yoga sessions are available at Leebotwood village hall on Thursday, August 22, ring 01694 724317 to enquire.

LEISURE CENTRE - Intensive swimming lessons are available at the leisure centre from Monday to Thursday, August 22 at a cost of £14.40 for the four sessions and are for youngsters of four years and upwards. On Wednesday and Thursday, August 22 there is badminton for the eight’s and over from 3pm-4pm for £3 per session and Water Walkerz from 4pm-5pm for the eight’s and over at a cost of £5.

CrazyCrocs is for the four to seven’s from 9am-10am on Thursday, August 22 at a cost of £3.

FOOD BANK - The local churches have been investigating setting up a food bank in the Strettons and if anyone is aware of people in need please contact Rev Richard Hill on 01694 722585 or Rev Suzan Williams on 01694 722588 and they will see what they can do to help. The school holidays are often extra difficult for families which are normally entitled to free school meals.

TUBS FOR TABLETS - Don’t forget to collect in the tokens from the special tubs of Flora at Tesco for St Lawrence’s Primary School to help enable the school to obtain an ASUS MeMO pad.

The school is looking to collect in 100 tokens.

COUNTRY MARKET - Will be held at Mayfair on August 23rd and is open from 9.15am-11.45am selling homemade cakes and produce and also crafts. Other suppliers are always welcome, enquire at the stalls.

TEAS TO PLEASE - Teas to Please will be open at Little Stretton Church over the Bank Holiday weekend from 2.30pm-6pm. Proceeds will go to Parkinson’s Disease Support Group and All Saints Church.

FLOWER FESTIVAL - St Peter’s Church in Rushbury is hosting a flower festival with the theme Musicals over the Bank Holiday weekend, and visitors are invited to ‘follow the scarecrows’ to the venue.

FAMILY DAY - Gonsal Farm Animal Centre is hosting a family day on September 8, with a car boots, displays, and tours of the rehabilitation centre. There will also be stalls, refreshments and a dog show. The event will open at 10.30am.
