OPEN MORNING - There is an open morning at Church Stretton school tomorrow (Friday) from 9am.

FRIDAY MARKET - The usual Friday market takes place tomorrow at Mayfair from 9.15am-11.45am.

MP’S VISIT - Philip Dunne MP will be at Mayfair community centre from 4.30pm-6pm tomorrow (Friday) to meet members of the public who wish to speak to him or have made a previous appointment by ringing 01584 872187.

COMMUNITY CINEMA - Presents Anna Karenina (12A) at All Stretton village hall tomorrow (Friday) starting at 7.30pm.

MEDIEVAL BANQUET - A Medieval banquet at Berry’s tomorrow (Friday) will raise funds for the 800th anniversary of the market charter celebrations.

EASTER FUN DAY - At St Lawrence’s Primary School on Saturday from 11am-3pm.

JUMBLE SALE - A jumble sale on Saturday at the parish centre will raise funds for Rose Cottage Cat Rescue.

Doors open 2pm.

FOLK DANCE - The regular folk dance evenings at Ticklerton village hall continue on Saturday starting at 8pm.

TALK - A talk on healing with plant energies will take place at Mayfair community centre on Monday from 7pm-9pm. All welcome, donations appreciated.

FLOWER CLUB - The local Flower Club will be meeting at All Stretton village hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday for an EGM with demonstration on ‘the design tree’ by Laura Leong. All welcome.

ANNUAL ASSEMBLY - The 47th Annual Assembly will take place Tuesday at the Silvester Horne Institute at 7.30pm.

All electors of the parish are welcome.

SCHOOL NEWS - Church Stretton school year seven boys football team are county champions, and year 10 boys rugby team are county cup winners. Three students have received certificates as library assistants level two, presented by M Moss of the School Library Service.

The Romanian Expedition Group has had a team building day and there has been a meeting for those interested in the Borneo expedition next year.

There has been a cheque presentation to the Telford Severn Hospice in memory of Mrs Halfpenny, and Comic Relief Day raised £720.

LUCKY NUMBERS - Lucky numbers in the Mayfair Lottery for March were 634, 247, 321 and 287 winning £100, £50, £20 and £10 respectively, and lucky winners in the March Tote in aid of Rushbury village hall were Peter Themans and Victoria Meirill who each won £5, Joyce Russell and John Butter who each won £10 and J Lomas who scooped the £40 prize.

CAMERA CLUB - Longmynd Camera Club emerged as winners in the battle against Welshpool Camera Club on April 3. The competition included prints and digitally projected images under the heading of Streets and Walkways. Streets, bridges, paths and alleyways from many parts of the world including Berlin, Dresden and Meisen in Germany, Venice and Burano in Italy, and a pavement sweeper on the Great Wall of China all featured together with places nearer to home such as London, Ledbury, Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury. Club member, Graham Brown won the prints section with a shot of a girl walking up a flight of steps in Sicily and David Kennedy took the lead in projectable images with his shot of a woman cleaning a step called Mopping Out.

The next competition in the series will be number five with an open subject on May 1, judged by John Bissell. This will be the last meeting of the series there will be an announcement of the Merit Award winner, the League winners and Photographer of the Year.
