MEMBERS of the Herefordshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs haver raised more than £9,800 this financial year.
The money has been donated to local and national charities and almost all of the 18 clubs in the federation was able to contribute by organising a fundraising event in their area during the year.
There were a wide range of activities taking place including the big breakfast, village pantomime, promise auctions, apple picking, entertainment evenings, speed shearing, sale of holly and mistletoe, bonfire nights, carol singing and Christmas raffles.
The county has entered into two national Young Farmers competitions both of which recognise the importance of raising money for charities to help people facing difficult circumstances.
Raising money for other charities is a vital aspect of belonging to the Young Farmers Club and this year's county chairman, Alex Ross, will be encouraging every club to organise a fundraising event and donate to their chosen charity.
