It’s been 12 years since Blade: Trinity, the third film in the Blade series, was released, but Wesley Snipes is still holding out hope that more are to come.
Marvel once again have the movie rights to Blade, acquired at the same time as the Punisher and Ghost Rider, and Wesley says the decision remains up to them.
The first two films were hugely popular, featuring a half-vampire battling inner demons as well as outer ones, but Blade’s character wouldn’t lend itself particularly well to the type of Marvel movie we see these days.
Its R-rated nature could see it live successfully via the small screen, though, following the pattern set by Marvel’s Netflix series’ Jessica Jones, Daredevil and the upcoming Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Rumours to this effect have been swirling, fed by thoughts Blade’s nature could signal the move to Netflix’s second Marvel wave featuring more supernatural-themed characters.
Only one thing is certain: We’d love to see that Daywalker on our screens again.
