A GLIMPSE of life in Ludlow during the First World War can be found at a new exhibition that has just opened in the town library.
It shows some of the letters, clothes and everyday implements used by people in the town and the surrounding area 100 years ago.
Daniel Lockett from the Shropshire Museum Service said many unusual items had been found in the archives.
One of the simplest but most interesting is a uniform worn by a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corp. These were women who did not serve on the front line but performed a variety of roles such as transport and logistics.
The exhibition also includes uniforms and helmets worn by British, German and French soldiers. Also seen is a flag that was flown from HMS Indomitable during the Battle of Jutland which was the largest naval battle of the 1914 to 1918 war.
