MIKE Paget and Guy Griffiths starred as Tenbury sealed a 3-2 home win over Woolhope in the Hereford and Worcester League Division Nine.

But Tenbury dropped points and skipper Paget fears the result could hamper their title aspirations.

Paget and Griffiths were in top form as they secured a 6-0 and 6-0 victory over the first Woolhope pairing before dispatching the second pairing 6-1, 6-3.

Paget said: “I don’t ever before remember winning 6-0, 6-0 in a competitive tennis match. Guy and I have forged a good understanding and we both played well.

“Sadly, the team dropped valuable points, which we could ill afford to, which makes winning the league all the more difficult.”

Tenbury’s second pairing of Terry Bingham and Jim Millar were out of sorts on a rain-free night. They only picked up one set as they lost both rubbers.
