Jammie Hammonds returns for Ludlow Town Reserves in 1-0 loss to Weston Rhyn in Shropshire County League Division One
JAMIE Hammonds’ return to action should be good news for Town’s first-team boss Mike Seaborne.
The midfielder played his first 45 minutes after injury and work commitments.
He put in a solid display for Geoff Simkiss’ Ludlow Town Reserves side in their 1-0 home loss to Weston Rhyn in Shropshire County League Division One.
“Hammonds had 45 minutes in the second-half and not surprisingly made quite a bit of difference when he came on and controlled the game,” said Simkiss.
“Jason Mynett and Hammonds both played very well but it was a very strange game with few chances and both defences on top.”
Weston hit the decisive goal in the 35th minute of last Saturday’s game played on the synthetic surface at the SBS Stadium.
A corner kick deceived Ludlow’s rookie goalkeeper Kieron Roche and sailed into the net.
“Kieron is only 17 years old and he’s a good young goalkeeper,” said Simkiss.
“He wasn’t to blame for the goal and he made a couple of decent saves.
“This sort of thing is always a learning curve for young goalkeepers.”
Town came close to scoring in the first-half when Martyn Jones’ shot skimmed the top of the bar after good inter-play between Ricky and Craig Simkiss.
“It was one of those games,” admitted Geoff Simkiss.
“Weston defended well but it was a flukey goal which won them the game.”
