Good day for Tenbury with Midlands Four West (North) derby win over Bromyard

THERE were not too many smiling faces among the Advertiser region’s rugby clubs on Saturday.

But Tenbury bucked the trend with an enjoyable 36-15 success in their Midlands Four West North local derby at home to Bromyard.

Worcester Wanderers proved far too strong for Ludlow in Midlands One West, romping to a 61-7 success while, in Midlands Three West North, Cleobury Mortimer were battered 42-0 at home by Bloxwich.

It was no better in the other Midlands Four West North fixture where Barton-under-Needwood saw off Bishops Castle 36-19 and Harborne enjoyed 25-5 home win over Clee Hill.

Tenbury United whose home form in West Midlands League Division 2 has been patchy, were held to a goalless draw by Wrens Nest.

But there was better new in the Mercian League with Church Stretton going second with a 3-1 home win over Allscott 1 and Ludlow continuing to build their challenge with a 2-1 win at Oakengates Athletic 1.
