Win over Albrighton helps Ludlow finish fifth in Shropshire County League Premier

LUDLOW Cricket Club finished fifth in the Shropshire County League Premier Division after a nine-wicket home win over Albrighton.

Chris Elliot struck an unbeaten 48 and Jack Griffiths cracked 42 not out for Ludlow after Luke Miles (3-26) had helped dismiss Albrighton for 100.

Bishop’s Castle’s Jack Perry bagged 4-5 in their four-wicket derby win over Corvedale in Division Two.

Ed Riley (70) and Mike Herbert (45) lifted Corvedale to 161 all-out but Richard Fifield’s 95 not out steered Castle home.

Keanu Cooper hit 90 in Ludlow 2nd’s one-wicket defeat at Madeley 2nd in Reserve Division One.

Tim Goldthorp (61) also shone in Ludlow’s 233-5 and, despite three wickets each for Glen Whittaker and James Gerritse, Andy Lloyd’s 123 steered Madeley home. Adam Bowen (92) and Tom Prince (50) helped Ludlow 3rd to a 113-run win over Welshpool 3rd in Division Five. Kevin Boulton bagged 4-35. Ludlow 4th were also triumphant, securing a 63-run victory over St Georges 4th after fine displays from George Small (60) and Phil Scott (5-28). Paul Cottrell’s 88 led Bishop’s Castle 2nd to a seven-wicket success over Corvedale 2nd at the Manor Ground in a Reserve Division Three derby. Cottrell had earlier bagged 4-32 and, supported by Caitlin Perry (3-43), helped shoot out Corvedale for 162 despite Joel Leversedge (36) and Brian Williams (27).
