Forton 135 Church Stretton 136-5

CHURCH Stretton went to the top of Division 2 of the Shropshire County League when they toppled leaders Forton by five wickets away from home.

Stretton won the toss and had the Forton innings in disarray after opting to bowl first in damp conditions.

Phil Anthony (34) and Chris Sayers (35 no) produced a battling response to help take the final score on to 135. Martin Nichols (4-21) and Andy Dixon (2-59) did the damage with the ball. Ben Nichols (64 no) kept his good run of form going to steer Stretton home with over eight overs to spare.

● Bishop’s Castle retain third spot after securing a winning draw against Wellington 3rd. Castle were bowled out for 166 in the final over of the 40-over contest and then restricted Wellington to 151-7.

Edgar Whately (66) scored the bulk of their runs and Adam Williams (2- 14) was the pick of the bowlers.
