CLEOBURY Mortimer suffered a 206-run defeat at the hands Kington in Division One of the Marches League.

And the damage was done by Kington opener Michael Green who smashed 221 off just 96 balls, a double century that included 16 fours and 19 sixes.

The visitors declared on 391-9 and Cleobury’s reply stuttered early on with openers Sam Evans and Liam Williams falling with just 22 on the scoreboard,

James Manley (30), Michael Green (36) and skipper Ed Kemp (46) steadied the innings but the tail failed to add to the tally and the hosts were all out for 185 in the 31st over.

In Division One, Knighton also suffered a defeat on their pwn patch, losing by 156 runs to Woolhope,

Will Tanner’s 111 for the visitors helped them to 260-6 from their 45 overs and that always looked out of reach for Robbie James’ side who were all out for 108. Opener Tim Gasch top scored with 28.

Cleobury head to Ross on Wye on Saturday when both sides will be looking to pick up their first win of the season. In Division Two, Knighton head to Luctonians 2nds.

In the Worcestershire League, Tenbury beat visitors Alveley by six wickets for their first win of the campaign.

Tenbury skipper Robbie Farrar put the visitors in to bat and former captain Zack Yarranton had a field day as he sliced through the top order to finish with 5-49.

An excellent 86 from Brayden Lindsay stopped the rot and he had good sipport from Jamie Lawrence before the latter was run out by Farrar as Alveley finished on 196-8 from their 50 overs.

Opener Kier Sellars (84) and Andy Adams (35) gave Tenbury the perfect start before a decent knock of 40 from Tom Rawlings kept them on course. It was left to Yarranton and Marcus Griffiths to see them over the line, reaching 197-4 with plenty of overs in hand.

Tenbury head to basement club Stourport on Saturday.
