TENBURY suffered a four-wicket defeat at Astwood Bank 3rds in Division Four of the Worcestershire Cricket League.

Put into bat, the visitors lost opener Kier Sellars and Tom Pugh for ducks before Andy Adams (44), Tom Gloster (18) and Zack Yarranton (36) started to work the scorers.

But with that trio back in the pavilion, the remainder of the card offered little resistance and Tenbury were all out for 133 inside 43 overs. George Haslam bagged an impressive 5-17.

With Gloster and skipper Rob Farrar taking early wickets, the visitors had high hopes of picking up their first win of the season.

But Bank opener Andy Clayton hit 55 and with Andy Alexander and Dave Price adding useful knocks, the home side just managed to cross the line, scoring 135-6 in the 55th over.

Farrar bowled a tight 19 overs to take 1-21 while Gloster and Marcus Griffiths claimed two wickets apiece.

Liam Williams hit a thumping 158 for Cleobury Mortimer in Division One of the Marches League but it wasn’t enough to stop hosts Builth Wells from claiming a six-wicket win. Sam Evans (34) and skipper Ed Kemp (28) were also among the runs as Cleobury reached 257 all out.

But Builth steadily edged towards their target and knocks of 82 from Aled Powell and 63 from Winston Williams saw them reach 259-4.

In Division Two, Knighton lost by five wickets at Almeley even though there was a half centure for Jack Kitchen (55).

Opener Tim Gasch was forced to retire on 36 and the visitors were on 203-7 at the end of their 45 overs.

Early wickets had Knighton in control but an impressive unbeaten stand from Liam Jones ( 87no) and Rob Williams (38mo) took them to 207-5 and victory.
