A TEAM from Ludlow Golf Club won the Pro-Am stableford event at the first S&H PGA Winter Alliance at Hawkstone Park.

Russell Price, Mike Corfield, John Bown and John Harris played some excellent golf to secure first place with 88 points.

A second quartet – Dan Francis, Will Evans, Dave Simpson and John Mifflin – also had a good day and finished fifth with 84 points.

Evans’ individual 38 points was the second best amateur score on the day.

Meanwhile, an October Medal was played in some testing conditions with the windy weather making it tough to score.

Mike Corfield and John Harris came out on top of Division One and Division Two respectively, both shooting a nett 69.

There was a four-way tie for second place in Division One between Lee Northwood, Andy Greenhalgh, Peter Monk and Andrew MacWhirter, all on nett 70. John Davies finished second in Division Two, also scoring a nett 70.

Division Three was won by Alison Reynolds with a nett 72, with Jeff Jones, George Barker and John Hughes tied in second after carding nett 75s.

And a new series of pairs competitions has been introduced at Ludlow GC which will be open to all sections of the club.

The Winter Series will incorporate an order of merit from which the leading players will receive additional prizes.

Players are free to change their partners throughout the series as points will be awarded to players individually.

The first event will be a Betterball Stableford on November 18 and this will be followed by a Medalford (player one medal score minus player two stableford score) on December 23 and a Stableford Multiplier (multiply both stableford scores on each hole) on January 20. February’s event is still to be confirmed.
