HEREFORD FC Danny Greenslade has decided joining the Bulls would be 'too much of a gamble'.

Bulls manager Pete Beadle confirmed today that the club had agreed a fee with Weston-Super-Mare to sign the left back.

But Greenslade has decided to stay put, meaning Beadle is now likely to bring in in a player on loan.

"We agreed a fee on Wednesday and I spoke to his agent on Thursday," explained Beadle.

"Everything seemed pretty rosy and then yesterday he rung me to say he had changed his mind and he thought coming to Hereford was too much of a gamble.

"I'm really disappointed how it's turned out because we've been a big admirer of his for a while now.

"He was one we tried to bring in the summer along with James Bowen but he decided to go back to Weston where he finished his loan.

"When we first spoke to him, he wanted to be at a club that matches his ambitions but now he sees coming to us for the foreseeable future as a gamble, which I find incredible."

Beadle thought it was third time lucky after Weston initially rejected two bids.

"When they finally agreed to the offer then we were delighted and thought it would take 24 hours to get it finalised," added Beadle.

"The boy has done a U-turn at the last minute, which his his prerogative, but I was really confident we had it done.

"There's no point lining up two or three left backs when you only want the one.

"He was our first choice to try and bring in, now we're 1-0 days behind in negotiations.

"And it's not easy because there'#s not many left backs out there that we feel can play for us.

"Hopefully something will crop up but it will be tough to replace James."

Beadle believes it will be too short notice to bring in a loan player in time for Tuesday's league game against Dunstable, but could bring someone in time for next week's FA Cup first round clash against AFC Telford.

"It will probably be too quick for Tuesday but we'll look for something short term and then sometimes a bit more long time," said Beadle.

"We will go back to them, if not today, then on Monday.

"That then gives us a week to organise it and get it sorted out and hopefully we will have someone come in who is a natural left back.

"And if it's a loan, then that's great as it gives us the chance to go out and look who is more naturally able to play there."

Beadle said that the loan player he had his eye on is an under-23 player.

"He's a young man, which will free up something to do something more longer term and if they want to recall him, they can," said Beadle.

Jimmy Oates has currently been occupying the left back position, with Dara O'Shea on the right.

"If Jimmy or Dara gets injured, then who do we play at full-back?" asked Beadle.

"You can play Purds there, but then who do we play in the middle of the park?

"We've got great flexibility in the squad, but ideally you want them to play in their strongest position.

"Jimmy is not the permanent solution, we need natural left-sided player."

"We will go back to them, if not today, then on Monday.

"That then gives us a week ro organise it and get it sorted out and hopefully we will have comeone come in eho is a ntualy left back/.

"And if it's a long, then thaty's great as it gives us the cnahce sto go out an dlook who is more ntually able to play there.

"He's a young man, which will free up something to do something more longer term and if they want to recall hoim, they can./

"We wIf it's still aposibiltiy then we willg et it done as quickly as we can.
