LUDLOW slumped to a 2-1 West Midlands (Regional) League Division Two defeat at home to Oldbury United on Saturday with manager Luke Hicks admitting it was the worst performance he’s seen from a Ludlow side.

Leading through a Joshua Partridge goal at the break, the home side conceded twice at the start of the second half to leave them nervously looking over their shoulders going into this weekend’s derby match with Rock Rovers.

“It was embarrassing,” Hicks said.

“It has to be the worst Ludlow performance I’ve ever seen.

“I made a few changes to give certain players a chance but they’ve just not taken it.

"The side we put out was more than good enough but it was as though they went into the game expecting the opposition to just roll over.”

Partridge scored the opener against the run of play after good work from Sean Griffiths who closed their centre half down and then drilled in the cross.

“The goal was against the run of play and I told the players at half-time that we needed to improve in the second half and put things right,” the Ludlow boss added.

“Oldbury have then come out and scored twice in five minutes.

“Three points would have lifted us up the table but it means the game with Rock is massive now.”
