HEREFORD striker Lance Smith believes he offers something different to the Bulls line-up as competition for places heats up.

Smith has started the last two games after returning to the fold following a six-week lay-off.

And he is confident he can kick on even more once he gets a full 90 minutes under his belt.

"I believe I do offer something different with my pace and I can win a few headers as well," said Smith.

"As soon as my sharpness comes back, that extra yard will help me.

"This squad is ridiculous and now all the players are coming back.

"We're all fighting for places, which is healthy and what you want.

"You can't get too cosy, you always need people to spur you on.

"I've had 70 minutes, now 84 so 90 minutes is my next step.

"It was frustrating watching on the sidelines, but I'm back on the pitch now and I'm starting slowly to enjoy it and it's getting back to normal."

Hereford sealed their place in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup following a 2-0 win over AFC Hornchurch, with Smith impressing.

"It took us 15 minutes to get into the game but after that we took a foothold and we went up another gear," added Smith.

"When the first goal went in, I think their heads dropped and we capitalised on that.

"We don't really fear anyone.

"We're playing well and with confidence and, whoever we get, we're not going to batter an eye – we're just going to get on there and continue what we're doing."

Smith has made the step up to Evo-Stik South football this season after starring for Evesham United in the South & West Division.

"It's a lot physical, but we've had a string of games that we've won so we've to to keep winning now," said Smith.

"The league is the bread and butter but this competition is what the fans want and what we want."
