LUDLOW picked up their first win in Division Two of the West Midlands League with a thumping 6-1 victory at fifth-placed Wonder Vaults.

And manager Luke Hicks is hoping his side can build on that performance when they take on FC Darlaston at home on Saturday.

“We’ve been threatened to do that for a few games,” the Ludlow boss admitted.

“It could, and should, have been double figures we were that much in control.”

Kieran Dovey opened the scoring before Jack Marston doubled the lead when he finished off a well-worked move.

Ryan Lewis made it 3-0 before half-time when he lifted the ball over the Vaults keeper from distance and when Jack Beaumont scored from the spot two minutes after the break there was to be no way back for the home side.

Substitute Sean Griffiths then crashed a brilliant shot into the top corner and although Vaults reduced the arrears, Keanu Cooper wrapped things up for Ludlow.

Church Stretton’s match at AFC Wednesbury was postponed but are due to face the same opponents at home on Saturday.
