ALL three of the region’s struggling sides lost their latest Shropshire League battles on Saturday.
In Division Two, second-bottom Bishop’s Castle were whitewashed by 10 wickets at home to Church Aston after being dismissed for 75.
Jack Purkis (34) was the only home player to register double figures as Tushar Jani took four wickets for the loss of just two runs, securing five maiden overs out of seven.
The reply was pretty swift as Avi Mathur rattled off an unbeaten 70 from 30 deliveries, finding the boundary 12 times as Church Aston posted 76 without loss.
Rob Whittall (75*) and Gabriel Williams (26) helped back-markers Church Stretton to 147 for five but hosts Wheaton Aston registered 148 for three in 28.1 overs thanks to Nathan Whittingham (64) and Jason Corr (55*).
Adrian Monteith’s 24 was not enough to inspire bottom-of-the-table Corvedale beyond 79 all out and Trysull & Seisdon cruised to victory in a Division Three relegation scrap, finishing the afternoon on 83 for one.
