CLEOBURY Mortimer picked up nine Marches League Division Two points despite seeing Saturday’s clash at Almeley abandoned due to rain.
Ed Kemp’s men lost the toss, were put in to bat and had to recover from a shaky start to register a solid 203 for seven from 40 overs prior to the action being curtailed.
Opener Sam Evans was clean bowled by David Goodman (2-46) for four with Andy Duggan (1-22) seeing off James Manley for the same score.
Kieran Hall (24) and Kemp (20) steadied the ship but it was Michael Green who made the difference with 84 before Nick Griffiths weighed in with 28.
Cleobury could have done nothing more in the circumstances but lost 15 points on a Ross-on-Wye side that wiped the floor with locals rivals Knighton-on-Teme, while table-topping Canon Frome managed to beat the looming threat from the sky to claim 20 points from a 105-run success at Ledbury.
The results increase the significance of Saturday’s home match with Ross at The Cricket Pitch (1pm).
