TENBURY United’s Herefordshire League title hopes dangle by a thread following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at table-toppers Hinton.

Mike Marsden and Bradley Matthews did the damage at Broomy Hill despite red cards for the home side’s Luke Semple and United joint-manager Aaron Morris.

The setback leaves United 11 points shy of the Premier Division summit with two games in hand, shifting the momentum back towards Hinton following their first league defeat of the season against Orleton Colts seven days previously.

Colts continued their own fine form with nine different goalscorers in their walloping of Pegasus Reserves.

Aaron Dovey, Shane Jennings, Nathan Hardisty, Martyn Jones, Martin Edwards, Steven Swan, Kyle Whitticase, Tom George and Jabez Smith shared the plaudits in a 9-2 away success over the back-markers which ensured Orleton climbed to fifth in the table.

There were also goals galore in Division One with Woofferton winning a nine-goal thriller at Orleton Reserves 6-3.

The visitors were 4-1 up at half-time and netted through Tom Ballard, Darren Bradley, Dean Harding, Will Prince, Andrew Pugh and Luke Pugh. Top scorer Corey Whitticase notched a hat-trick for Colts, taking his tally to 13 goals in 10 matches for a second string that has yet to register a point in 18 league outings this season.

Elsewhere, Ludlow Colts had Ashley Smith to thank for their share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Ledbury Town Reserves.

Church Stretton’s nine-match unbeaten run in the Mercian League came to an abrupt halt in a 3-1 home defeat to Clee Hill United.

Matthew Newton had given Stretton the lead but United won thanks to strikes from Craig Breakwell, Oliver Smith and Liam Whitbread to further their title own ambitions. It was the home side’s first league defeat since October 1.

In Division One, Brown Clee lost 4-1 at FC Oswestry reserves.

Bishop’s Castle's dominance of Montgomeryshire League Division Two continued with a 7-1 blitz of Waterloo Reserves.

Jack Mellor was credited with a hat-trick, despite team-mate Jacob Cintra’s efforts to claim one of the treble on social media. Toby Siviter (2), George Mellor and player-boss Dan Dawson got the others.
