WILL Sparrow retained his spot as club captain at Ludlow & South Shropshire Cricket Club having been re-elected at Thursday’s AGM.

Sparrow, who also picked up the Shropshire County Cricket League Premier Division Player of the Year gong for 2016, will continue in a bid to improve last season’s fourth-place finish in the county’s top tier.

Kevin Boulton steps up from third-team skipper to the same role with the seconds. He is replaced by Chris Ammonds with the thirds while Matt Porter takes charge of the fourth team.

Ludlow will get their first taste of action in 2017 on Sunday when they begin their Herefordshire Indoor Cricket League campaign.

Dales provide the opposition at 4pm followed by a clash with Burghill, Tillington & Weobley at 5.15pm. The competition takes place at the Bridge Street Sports Centre in Leominster.

Meanwhile, Boulton was re-elected as the club’s chairman.
