IAN Juckes harnessed his Lucky 7 training with director of golf David Pain to win Cleobury Mortimer’s December Stableford – his first winter victory of the campaign.

Juckes was the first player out and shot 40 in spite of enduring a blip on the 15th with his score just enough to see off the challenge of Andy Thomas (39) in second.

And Pain was quick to acknowledge Juckes’s progress while working on his game in recent weeks.

“Ian hits the ball brilliantly,” said Pain. “We worked on finding consistency, solid alignment, swing plane and course management.

“It is brilliant to see him getting scores like this. He is certainly one to watch in 2017.”

Bryan Colley, winner of Cleobury’s 2016 doubles knock-out, proved he was happy to fly solo with a pair of birdies on the final two holes to take third with a score of 37.
