FOUR Croft Ambrey runners won their respective categories in the club’s impressive showing at the Mortimer Forest Trail Run.

Jasper Robinson, 16, comfortably claimed the tag of fastest junior in a time of 79.19 with Will Haywood (65.54), in ninth, the quickest competitor under the age of 20.

At the other end of the age range, Ashley Robinson – Jasper’s father – came out on top of the over-65s with an 89th-placed finish overall.

Guy Whitmarsh was the first over-70 finisher in 152nd on a good day for Croft’s men.

The ladies also put on strong display with no fewer than six in the top half in the final reckoning at an event which attracted a record field of 405 runners overall.

Meanwhile, Cleobury Mortimer Running Club’s popular Learn to Run course has been completed by another seven members.

The purpose of the lessons is to teach newcomers how to utilise the correct techniques to avoid injury with the help of strength and conditioning exercises.

Coach Andie Ford said: “I could not be prouder of them all. We’ve had some awful weather over the past few weeks but they’ve turned up despite the conditions and worked really hard.

“The Learn to Run course builds up slowly and safely each week with regular intervals of walking and running, gradually increasing the running sections as the weeks progress.

“I believe anyone can run if they learn this way.”

A new Learn to Run will begin in Cleobury Mortimer in mid-January. Anyone interested should contact run@runcleobury.org.uk for further details.
