BISHOPS Castle smashed home a super six to maintain their perfect start to life in Montgomeryshire League Division Two.

Having initially been denied a place in their new surroundings by red tape, Castle backed up their opening victory with a 6-0 success against Llanfechain on Saturday.

The visitors arrived with only 11 men and were reduced to 10 through injury but Castle showed no mercy with goals from Martyn Ziemann (2), George Mellor (2), Alex Jones and Dan Green proving decisive.

Church Stretton lost ground on the Mercian League Premier Division pacesetters after being held to a 2-2 draw by Prees with Aaron Gough and Dean Richards on the score sheet. Clee Hill United lost 1-0 at home to FC Hodnet.

In Division One, Craven Arms Town heaped more misery on AFC Broseley.

Ben Black, Nathan Giles, Aaron Hodge (2), Dale Hodge and substitute Jason Thomas-Maynett netted in a 6-1 victory to ensure their visitors remained pointless after 11 league matches.

Tom Everall’s strike was in vain as Brown Clee lost 2-1 to high-flying Shrewsbury Juniors at Hall Meadow.

Tenbury United remain on the coattails of the early leaders in the Herefordshire League Premier Division courtesy of a 4-0 success over Ledbury Town.

Dan Spear’s goal proved academic as Orleton’s reserve side lost 4-1 at Weobley, a fifth straight league loss which consigned them to the foot of the Division One table.
