CLEOBURY Mortimer junior Jack Severn has qualified for the Junior European Open in Andalucia, Spain.

Despite strong winds at Ingon Manor, Stratford, Severn sealed his spot in the November tournament with a second-place finish from a field of scratch players and England stars.

Severn held a one-shot lead coming down the 18th but a wind-assisted 50-degree wedge from 155 sailed out of bounds.

In spite of the double bogey on last, he still claimed second to join a field of 105 boys who will play four rounds on two of Spain's top courses before the top 40 make the cut for the fifth and decisive leg.

Meanwhile, Adam Cook won the club’s last gong of the season, the Aggregate Medal Trophy.

Leader Cook backed up his 65 net from the first round with a 69 in the second to claim his first Cleobury honour ahead of nearest rival Lee Glasby.

Club professional Dave Pain said: "It was so good to see Ad win this trophy. We have been working hard on his game all summer.

“To record sub-par scores in both competitions was a great achievement. Well done to Ad, we hope he can keep up the good work.”

Paul Hebdon, Peter Buckley, Jonny Wilkinson, Angus Taylor joined forces to post a score of 58.2 to win fourth annual Teenage Cancer Trust Charity Golf Day.

The winning quartet emerged from a field of 19 teams ahead of second-placed squad Chris Clayton, Amrit Singh, Andy Hughes and Tony Wheeler on 59.5.

The event, generously backed by Benham BMW, raised more than £9,000 for the charity.
