BOSS Nick Stocker admitted Tenbury United’s early-season form had given him a whopping selection headache – but he would not have it any other way.

United backed up a 4-1 victory in the Worcestershire Minor Cup with a 5-0 walloping of Hereford Lads Club reserves in the league on Saturday.

The returns of skipper Mike Foster, Dale Withers, Ryan Morris and joint-manager Aaron Morris had Tenbury close to full strength and they soon got into their stride.

Ryan Morris was hauled down in the box with brother Aaron rattling home the penalty after 15 minutes and Ryan was not to be denied second time around, bursting through to net the second 10 minutes later.

United continued to create and substitute Withers bagged a brace with fellow replacement Foster netting a fine solo effort, cutting in from the right before lashing past the keeper.

And after upping the ante from the bench, Stocker revealed it would be hard to leave out his impact substitutes.

“It was a really good performance against a very tough Lads Club side,” he said.

“In the second half, the game turned and tackles started to fly in a bit. Six players were booked so I was proud to see the lads hold their own and keep their heads.

“We had the luxury of being able to start the match with Aaron Morris, Dale Withers and Mike Foster as substitutes and still manage to compete against a side that will take points off sides in this league.

“I was really impressed with the boys, especially Ciaran Rogers and Tom Farr who were excellent on the day.

“Aaron and I have a real headache at the moment. We have 18 players available each week that could all do a job for us so trying to pick a starting XI is really difficult, even if it is a problem we don’t mind having.

“We are a few games behind the other sides in the league so we are still quite low in the table but if we win our games in hand we’ll be right up there contesting with Hinton, who we have in a couple of weeks.

“We just need to keep going one game at a time and see where we are at Christmas. We have a tough month now with three of the top four all coming to the Palmers so we should know how we fair then.”

That tricky run begins on Saturday when third-placed Holme Lacy are Tenbury’s visitors (2.30pm).
