LUDLOW Castle’s Jack Bowen played the supporting role as Trevor Morgan piloted a class victory at the Patriot Stages.
The duo had to do it the hard way with slippery conditions, electrical problems and a broken intercom testing their mettle but in the final stage, a 13-second deficit was turned into an 18-second win.
Seeded 54th for the 65-mile, six-stage contest, Morgan and Bowen started well in the powerful Darrian T90GTR+.
A cautious approach to stage one still yielded progress and the fitting of wet tyres saw them up the ante in stage two.
Some time was lost due to a loose wire but clean runs in stages three and four saw them up to 27th overall.
A mile into stage five, their communication tools failed, prompting plenty of gesticulating from Bowen in the passenger’s seat.
But a problem-free final outing saw the pair sail up to 23rd overall and claim top honours in their section.
The next meeting of Ludlow Castle Motor Club will be held on Wednesday, October 12 at the Ludlow Brewing Company (8pm). All are welcome.
