DAVID-LUCAS Garner paired up with Richard Cox to win the Open Fourball/Foursomes on the way to a double success at Ludlow Golf Club on Sunday.

In fact it was a real family affair as Garner beat his brother Matt who was defending the title he won last year.

The pair followed up their very impressive best nett of 59 in the morning betterball with an excellent 70.5 nett in the afternoon foursomes. Their total score of 129.5 was five clear of runners-up Adam Bridges and J Halfpenny.

The best gross score of 143 was returned by George Watton and Andrew Ferriday.

Junior captain Jonathan Price won the Men’s prize in the Jean & John Moss Trophy on Saturday with a score of 38pts in difficult scoring conditions while winning lady was Julie Fullerton who scored 31pts.

In the George Mantle Cup, Neill Smith and his father-in-law Phil Norton combined to win, thanks to a better back nine, but it was tight at the top, though, as three pairs tied on 44 points.

Seniors’ secretary Mike Miles paired up with John Smithson to win Monday’s Seniors Hi/Lo Betterball Stableford with a score of 45pts, just one point ahead of runners-up Bill Shilton and Ben Bowkett.

At Cleobury Mortimer, county star Jack Severn took the men’s Lloyds Cup and Seve Stableford.

The youngster, who plays off four, overcame dropped shots on 8 and 9 to go round Deer Park level par for a commanding 40 points.
