TENBURY Wells have a narrow four-point lead at the top of Worcestershire League Division Five after the latest round of matches.

They enjoyed a comfortable eight-wicket win at Droitwich Spa 3rd racing to victory in double quick time on a day when rain affected a number of matches across the region..

Zack Yarranton won the toss and invited the hosts to bat and soon had them in trouble with Aaron Morris (3-19) making early inroads.

Zack Yarranton (2-18) and Mark Yarranton (2-10) were able to keep the pressure on the home side with Rob Farrar and Jack Farrar also chipping in with a wicket each.

Wicketkeeper/opener Scott Fenn made 21 and Martin Keen 24 but there was very little to encourage Droitwich as they were dismissed for just 92 in 40.1 overs.

Early wickets could have made life difficult for the leaders but they were never in trouble despite losing Morris for 10.

Andrew Adams finished unbeaten with 57 as Tenbury took just 15.1 overs to reach their target. They did lose Kier Sellars for 21 just before the end but was small comfort for the hosts.

A disappointing afternoon for Tenbury’s second string as they saw their game abandoned due to rain.

Having called correctly they opted to bat first and had reached 107-4 with only 21overs possible.

Ben Thompson was unbeaten on 42 when played was finally called off for the day.

They collected five points for their troubles while the visitors picked up six.
