A FANTASTIC five-wicket haul from Joe Webb was not enough to secure victory for Ludlow 2nd as they lost by three wickets to Knockin & Kinnerley 2nd in the Shropshire League Reserve Division One.
Webb took 5-14 off 8.4 overs but the visitors still reached 138-7 to secure the win. Tom Gloster and Tom Miller took the other wickets.
Ludlow had been put in to bat and were all out for 135. Opener and captain Simon Mills led the way with 36 with Courtney Cooper adding a useful 28.
There was better news from Ludlow 3rd who managed to overcome Much Wenlock 1st for a nail-biting one wicket victory in Division Three.
Luke Hicks took 5-34 as the home side were dismissed for 124. Adam Bowen claimed 2-30 with Joe Williams and Scott Kemsley snaffling up the other wickets to fall, Hicks also claiming a run-out.
Edward Riley (25) and Rob Genner (34) looked to have given Ludlow a perfect start but the wickets then began to fall until Hicks hit a vital 29 including three sixes to edge them over the line.
