WITH just over a week until the second Tour d’Arts Alive – a Shropshire cycling challenge event – the organisers have promised an extra treat for those taking part.

The cycle-fest will raise funds to support Flicks in the Sticks and Arts Alive and Arts Alive director Sian Kerry explained how cyclists would be rewarded for their efforts.

She said: “Last year medals were made by a local potter. This year we have gone even more environmentally friendly, with edible medals!

“Someone suggested biscuit medals and we thought it was brilliant. Our gingerbread medals are made with free-range eggs, have no air miles and won’t hang around collecting dust. If the cyclists don’t eat them the dog or the birds will appreciate a snack!”

She added that the 2016 event would be bigger and better than last year with three routes – 28, 45 or 68 miles.

The Tour d’Arts Alive Charity Cycle Challenge, which is a partnership between cycling event company Rideventures and the charity Arts Alive and Flicks in the Sticks, takes place on Sunday, June 26 and more details are available from www.tourdartsalive.co.uk
