ROB Genner and Craig Massey put on an opening partnership of 123 as Ludlow 3rd secured a winning draw at home to Shifnal 3rd.

And there were some other impressive performances as the batsmen took advantage of the conditions to post an impressive 274-7 from their 40 overs.

Genner led the way with an excellent 67 from just 72 balls – a total that included four sixes and six fours.

Massey had scored 46 off as many balls when he was run out but others also contributed including Richard Mapp (31), Luke Hicks (26), William Wood (21) and Edward Riley (20).

With Ludlow skipper Scott Kemsley taking 3-25, Shifnal rarely looked like reaching their target but they dug in well with a number of players reaching double figures led by opener Michael Frost who notched 37 including eight fours.

By the close, the visitors were on 165-5 with the other two wickets to fall being claimed by Hicks (2-14).

Ludlow 2nd were beaten by seven wickets by visitors Cound 2nd. Put into bat, Ludlow were all out for 123 and Cound reached their target for the loss of just three wickets.

Ludlow 4th were convincing 99-run winners at home to Madeley 3rd in Division Two of the Shropshire Sunday League. Having struck 226-4 from their 40 overs, Ludlow then had their visitors all out for just 127.
