A LAW firm from Ludlow is helping a cyclist from the Teme Valley compete at the top level.

The four-figure backing from mfg Solicitors will help support racing cyclist Sam Williams, from Stockton-on-Teme, over the next 12 months as he competes in races across the world - and pushes to make the six-strong One Pro Cycling squad for the showpiece Tour of Britain and Tour of Denmark races later this year.

Suzanne Lee, partner and managing director of mfg Solicitors, said: “Sam is a remarkable sportsman who has achieved a great deal at a young age through discipline, determination and hard work,” said Suzanne Lee, partner and managing director or mfg Solicitors that has offices in Ludlow.

“As one of One Pro Cycling’s youngest team members, he is an inspiration to everyone, young and old, and we are honoured to be able to support him in a key stage of his career.”

Sam Williams will tour the world through his cycling.

“One Pro Cycling has an exciting worldwide racing calendar and I will be working hard to contribute to the success of the team,” he said.

“I look forward to sharing my experiences with mfg and their clients when I am in the UK or through the One Pro Cycling website, which will keep our supporters fully up to date on the team’s progress.”

Cycling is becoming an increasingly popular sport, meaning that that there is greater competition than ever for funding for those wanting to take it up and develop professionally.

In 2012 the Tour of Britain was watched by 400,000 people a day on live television, plus a further half a million for the highlights.
