LUDLOW 3rds saw their game at home to Corvedale ruined by a two-hour downpour which flooded the ground.

There was a reasonable amount of play to report though with the visitors having won the toss and elected to field.

In the 21.2 overs which were possible Ludlow picked up two wickets, Russell Wilcox having Craig Massey caught by Adrian Monteith for 14 while Massey’s fellow opener Ed Riley went for 25, Thomas Williams hanging on to a catch off Sher Muhammad Zahid.

There was no further loss for Corvedale with Richard Mapp (26) and David Northwood (13) taking the score at the close to 87-2.

Ludlow received six points with the visitors getting seven.

There was a completed game for Ludlow 2nds, although they will probably have wished the rain had come a little earlier as they were skittled for just 46 at The Burway by St Georges 2nds.

Rob Genner with 13 was the only Ludlow batsman to reach double figures with no fewer than seven returning to the pavilion without troubling the scorers.

St Georges captain Neil Davies won the toss and elected to field first, sending Ludlow openers Matthew Hawes and Sam Roberts in to bat in difficult conditions.

They started solidly, and grafted through a tough opening eight overs from a strong opening attack of Naz Akhtar and Lewis Davies.

They had put on 20, thanks to a few extras from the opening pair, when Hawes chopped on to his stumps from Lewis Davies (1-18).

Josh Williams, Sam Roberts and Simon miles, all fell quickly Akhtar (3-16 from 8 overs) in quick succession, as Ludlow failed to stem the flow of wickets.

Then second change bowler Neil Davies had a destructive spell, taking 5 wickets for just 5 runs, cleaning up the rest of Ludlow's line-up, before Liam Forrester came on for three balls to take the wicket of Courtney Cooper.

Rain at the interval looked as though it might have come in time to save Ludlow and worsening the condition of the pitch but it didn't affect St Georges batsmen too badly, as they managed to chase the 46 runs down with ease on a pitch that was a bowlers paradise.

Joe Williams took three wickets, coming in to the side for the first time this season, taking advantage of the moist conditions, while Cooper took the other, but it wasn't enough to take home any more than two points with St Georges claiming 20 as they eased to 47-4 and six-wicket win.
