LUDLOW Runners were well represented when they entered three teams in both the ladies' and men's cross country race at Shobdon Wood on Sunday – a total of 28 members out in the heat on a very hilly course.

And it was a very successful day with Ludlow taking four of the top ten positions.

Jamie Shingler was first of the 139 runners over the line, taking the honours just weeks after completing the London Marathon in a brilliant 2hrs 44mins.

Matthew Yapp won the Junior Male event, Ffion Gilbert was first Junior Female, Anna Yapp won U17 Female and Amy Fulford and Sarah Jamieson took their relevant age group titles.

There were also brilliant runs from Dan Spear, David Haynes, Wendy Booker, Debbie Bean, Thomas Powell, Stella Stilwell and too many more to list that made up the teams that also gained success, with the men finishing 1st, 4th and 9th while the ladies took 2nd, 8th and 10th.

Ludlow Runners, a club in its 25th anniversary year and with around 185 members including 35 children, will soon be organising its own races including The Beast Of Bitterley – a scenic but challenging multi-terrain 8km race Sunday, June 12 (from 11am).

Information on upcoming events, races and membership to the club that allows for all levels of fitness can be found on the Ludlow Runners website, Twitter and Facebook pages.
