BOSS Dave Cooper remains uncertain about his future as AFC Ludlow bring the curtain down on their West Midlands League Division One campaign at Wren’s Nest this Saturday.

Cooper’s side, runaway leaders in the first half of the campaign, faded badly to find themselves overhauled by both Shifnal Town and Lads Club in recent weeks, with the manager bemoaning “a lack of commitment” for some of his players.

Ludlow’s Bank Holiday Monday trip to Worcester Raiders was called off when the home side couldn’t raise a team and is unlikely to be rearranged as this weekend is the cut-off point for league fixtures.

AFC were due to travel to Team Dudley last night (Wednesday) but the fixture was reversed and was being played at Ludlow instead because of a double booking at The Dell Stadium.

Cooper said: “I am 50-50 about the future and don’t know what I am going to do. The last few months have ground me down and I need the season to finish and have time to think things through.

“We have a superb core of players at Ludlow but when you travel away with only 11 players, as we did last week in losing 3-0 at Penncroft, you can't compete at this level. Things like that get you down.

“Part of me wants to walk away but another part of me wants to carry on and stick it out and see where we can get to.

"My goal all along was to try and restore the club to the Premier Division of the West Midlands League and we are not far away.”

Ludlow are likely to finish third in the Division One table, with Lads Club set to rubber-stamp promotion alongside Shifnal either in last night’s (Wednesday) visit to lowly Penncroft, or in their final fixture at home to Shenstone Pathfinders.
