ORLETON Colts dedicated their last-match victory over Herefordshire League Premier Division rivals Lads Club to retiring goalkeeper Kelvin Thomas.

The 32-year-old farmer is hanging up his gloves after eight years with the villagers and a brace apiece from Stefan Anthony and James Byatt (10 goals in 11 appearances) ensured he went out on a winning note with a 4-2 verdict.

Colts player-boss Kristian Morgan said: “Kelvin has been brilliant for us and he is going to be a very hard act to follow.”

Newcastle also signed off with a victory in the Mid Wales South League when they won 3-1 at Llanidloes Town Reserves.

There was little to choose between the sides in the first half but Newcastle went in at the break trailing 1-0. Some harsh words during the half-time interval lifted their energy and they drew level on the hour when Bright scored from the left.

Craig Morris then ran onto a through ball to drive them in front and it was no surprise when Bright added a third goal from close-range.

Last midweek Newcastle had taken an early lead through Simon Oakley at Hay St Mary's Reserves. They held that until stoppage time when the home side levelled.
