AFC LUDLOW came within minutes of springing a major surprise in the semi-final of the Shropshire FA's TJ Vickers Premier Cup at Shrewsbury Sports Village.
With seven minutes to play, the town club were leading 3-2 against higher-graded Market Drayton Town.
But the Evostik League First Division South side grabbed an equaliser to take the tie into extra time before going on to win 6-3.
Kieran Dovey had quickly made his mark, firing Ludlow into a two-goal lead.
Drayton grabbed a goal back before the interval but Dovey completed his hat-trick early in the second half.
Drayton again cut arrears but Ludlow looked like holding on until the Evostik side drew level with a deflected goal in the 83rd minute.
Ludlow fell behind for the first time in the second minute of extra time and Drayton went on to progress to the final with two further goals.
