CLEOBURY Mortimer RFC chalked up an impressive 33-12 victory at home to Wednesbury in Midlands Three West (North) to lift them up to third place.

David Leach finished with 13 points including one of his side’s five tries as they wrapped up the bonus point. Also on the scoresheet were Ed Lewis, Tom Leach, Paul Hulland and Paddy Hooper.

League rivals Clee Hill also recorded an emphatic win, cruising to a 46-0 victory over basement side Bloxwich.

Saturday sees Cleobury head to Bloxwich while Clee Hill face a tricky trip to Burntwood for a mid-table tussle.

In Midlands Four West (North), Church Stretton felt the full force of Uttoxeter, going down 29-0 at home as the Staffordshire side opened up a six-point lead at the top.

A spirited first half display came to nothing as they were kept at bay by a solid defence and a six-week break took its toll in the second half as Stretton tired in the latter stages.

A converted try was all that separated the sides at the interval but four second tries handed Uttoxeter the spoils.

Elsewhere in the same division, Bishops Castle & Onny Valley were 29-8 winners at home to Aldridge – a welcome victory after a run of postponements and defeats stretching back to the end of October.

Bishops Castle head to Aston Old Eds on Saturday with Church Stretton making the trip to Yardley & District.
