SUPER welterweight Craig Morris is to bring professional boxing to Ludlow for the first time in more than 80 years.

The 23-year-old will top the bill at the event at Ludlow Racecourse on Saturday, March 12, moving up to eight rounds for the first time as he fights for a British Challenge Belt.

Morris, who is sponsored by Ludlow company FlowFit, won a number of Midlands titles as an amateur while representing Ludlow ABC. He started boxing as a 14-year-old and after reaching the national ABA Championships semi-finals three times, turned professional last year.

Since then he has won all four of his fights, two of them by technical knockout, and has been nominated as best newcomer by the Midlands Boxing Board ahead of their awards evening next month.

Tickets for Ludlow’s own boxing spectacular, the first ever staged at the racecourse, start at £30 and are available from Duncan Morris on 07890 844418.

Morris, who also works full-time as a carpenter, is looking for extra sponsorship as he sets his sights on Midlands, British and European titles. Anyone interested in finding out more should also contact Duncan Morris.
