Captain Jack Holloway should be back in the pack for Bishop’s Castle & Onny Valley RFC on Saturday when they hope to play their first home match in more than two months.

And with scrum-half Oliver Corbett also expected to be available again after returning from Australia, it will be a timely boost as they take on Aldridge (ko 2.15pm) in Midlands Four West (North).

Castle were beaten 18-5 at Yardley & District at the weekend, losing out to two second half tries before things boiled over in the final few seconds.

The home side opened up a six-point lead thanks to a brace of early penalties before the visitors bagged the day’s first try, full-back Tom Lloyd making the break before feeding centre Luke Bagnall who dotted down beneath the posts.

But the powerful hosts secured the points after the break before having a player sent off as tempers flared at the end.

Bishop’s Castle’s Pete Bevan said it was good to get a game in after losing so many matches to the weather – their last home game was against Bromyard back in November.

He said: Not only have we not played that many games but the training hasn’t been much good because we’ve not been able to get on the pitch.

“We spent £12,000 on the pitch to sort out the drainage but the brook down the side had been at such a high level that there’s been nowhere for the water to go.

“The forecast looks better this week so we’re hopeful we can play.”

Elsewhere in Midlands Four West (North), Church Stretton’s match at Telford Hornets was postponed. They should be at home to league leaders Uttoxeter on Saturday (ko 2.15pm)

In Midlands Three West (North), Cleobury Mortimer went down 29-3 at league leaders Tamworth, Dave Leach scoring their points with a second half penalty.

They will be looking to bounce back on Saturday when they host lowly Wednesbury (ko 2.15pm).

Clee Hill, whose game at Wednesbury was postponed, will be at home to basement side Bloxwich (ko 2.15pm).
