FRUSTRATED Clee Hill skipper Matt Bowen was left cursing the weather when his side’s match at home to Midlands 3 West (North) leaders Tamworth was abandoned midway through the second half.
The visitors had scrapped their way into a 10-0 lead and league rules say that the result will stand because an hour’s rugby had been played.
Bowen said: “We were really disappointed when the referee decided to call the game off as we were starting to come into the match.
“The heavy conditions suited us and while we may not have won the game, we could have done enough to get a losing bonus point which I thought we deserved.”
Clee Hill head to struggling Wednesbury on Saturday and although they will be without a couple of players, Bowen is hopeful they can return to winning ways.
“We have some tough games coming up but we are hopeful of staying in the top five or six along with Ludlow and Cleobury Mortimer so that if the leagues are shuffled at the end of the season we will still have our local derbies.”
