LUDLOW Firsts lost an 8-4 thriller at Streetly in the Warwick Printing West Midlands Premier Division.

A first half brace from James Pratt wasn't enough to prevent Ludlow going in at the break 4-2 down and, despite starting the second half on the front foot, conceded soon after the restart before Lawrence Richards pulled one back.

The home side then added a further three to put the game beyond doubt.

Sam Pratt scored a late penalty stroke but it was no more than a consolation.

Ludlow Seconds were also on the wrong end of a heavy defeat by Streetly, losing 6-0.

Ludlow started strongly and it took 15 minutes for the opposition to beat 15-year-old goalkeeper Ben Crump who, despite conceding six, put in a man-of-the-match performance in what was his first game of the season.

At the other end, Tom Aston and Robbie Disney went close for Ludlow but they couldn't quite find the net despite forcing a handful of short corners.

Ludlow Thirds made it a hat-trick of weekend defeats for the club, although their clash with Bridgnorth was a lot closer than their counterparts as they went down 4-3 in an end to end clash.

Mark Sandell's two quick goals saw Ludlow recover from falling a goal down before James Raymond made it 3-1 with the goal of the game.

But Bridgnorth pulled one back before scoring twice in the last five minutes to snatch victory.

Meanwhile, Ludlow Hockey Club's annual mixed hockey six-a-side competition will take place on Sunday, January 3.
