OLLIE Smith and Marian Jusko led the way on a goal-fuelled afternoon in the Mercian and Herefordshire Leagues.

Smith scored after just a minute and went on to finish with five goals as Mercian League Division One leaders Clee Hill United smashed nine past neighbours Brown Clee.

Adam Warren, James Clifford and substitute Craig Breakwell (2) also found the target in a 9-1 romp, with Andrew Davies replying and also missing from the penalty spot.

Clee Hill boss Wayne Whitbread said: “Ollie led the line brilliantly and was unlucky not to score more. This has been coming for some weeks the way we have been playing.”

Jusko bagged four as Woofferton won 9-2 at Tupsley to take over top spot in Division One of the Herefordshire League.

Simon Bradley, Jack Pound, Luke Pugh (with the goal of the game), Nathan Scott and substitute Walter Bradley added to Jusko’s haul, all his four goals coming in the first half as he terrorised the Tupsley defence.

Orleton Colts Reserves ended their recent barren run with a battling 4-3 victory over Sinkums, Paul Brogan snapping up a late winner to add to earlier goals from Liam Watton (2) and Kieran Powys.

Sean Gough bagged both goals for Church Stretton as they turned the tables on FC Hodnet, following the previous week’s cup defeat with a crucial 2-1 away win in the Premier Division of the Mercian League, but Newcastle continued their recent poor run, bowing out of the J Emrys Morgan Cup 4-1 to Guilsfield after extra time.

Substitutes Tom Price and Scott Oxford combined on 55 minutes to give Newcastle a deserved lead. Oxford played in Price, whose shot was saved only for Oxford to head in the rebound.

Newcastle should have put the tie beyond doubt but the visitors equalised with ten minutes left and then scored three more in extra time.
