LUDLOW made hard work of beating basement boys Old Wulfrunians 1-0 in the Warwick Printing West Midlands Premier League.
Though they enjoyed the bulk of the possession, they only had a well-worked penalty corner finished off by Graham Hutchinson to show for their efforts.
Ludlow 2nd welcomed back Andy Smith, and Aaron and Graeme Wilcox, for their first games of the season, and were 3-2 winners at King’s Heath Pickwick. The goals came from Jake Watts (after a solo run), Graeme Wilcox and Tom Aston, with Jake Prescott, who stepped in for absent full-back Josh Rowson, making two vital goal-line clearances.
A 4-1 win for Ludlow 3rd at Bloxwich made it a clean sweep of victories. Hector Robinson returned as temporary captain and with Scott Kemsley’s experience proving crucial, Ludlow won with goals from Mark Sandell (2), brother Shaun Sandell and George Wood.
*LUDLOW/WENLOCK Ladies went down 7-2 at Bridgnorth 2nd, with Miffy Wilson and Kimmy Leighton scoring their goals. They require a goalkeeper for Saturday matches, with coaching and kit provided. Contact Karen Hadley on kazz90@sky.com or 07772-475237.
