PLAYER manager Kristian Morgan was spot-on as Orleton Colts turned the tables on Hinton to collect their third victory in a row in the Premier Division of the Herefordshire League.

Morgan stepped up to convert an 87th minute penalty as the Greens came from 2-0 down in the last quarter-of-an-hour to triumph 3-2 at Broomy Hill and leave themselves just three points behind second-placed Wellington Reserves in the table.

''The lads were told by Kristian during the break that they had been shocking in the first half,” said Orleton player-spokesman Dave ‘Magnum’ Thomas. “He reminded us we could play much better and the game was not lost if we battled and contested more. Hinton were shellshocked at the end.”

With Orleton 2-0 down and just 15 minutes left on the clock, a lifeline appeared when Jake Goody hit a powerful shot from 20 yards past the diving Hinton keeper.

Martin Jones then equalised when he pounced to head in from five yards out following a Kyle Whitticase free-kick and with three minutes remaining Jones was wrestled to the ground by a defender inside the box and a spot-kick awarded. Man-of-the-moment Morgan stepped up to drive the ball low to the keeper’s left and secure all three points for a jubilant Orleton outfit.

This weekend Orleton travel to bottom-of-the-table Ledbury Town looking to maintain their winning run.
